New Year

Happy New Year, time to pretend we can change ourselves while the systems that keep us in place persist, unchanged.

I disappeared for a while, stopped reading as much, I still haven't finished Lestat and I've decided to do my reading lists differently, I'll pick 3 books a month, 1 of which will be an Anne Rice book till I've completed the Vampire Chronicles, if I finish them before the end of the month I can read whatever, I will not be planning months in advance anymore either.

I stopped blogging for several months after getting sick with COVID-19, and the fatigue kept me from doing basically any of my hobbies in the mean time, but in the past couple weeks I've started to have energy again, I've started to rebuild our movie collection, I finally got my own testosterone prescription, although I'm having insurance and pharmacy issues getting it filled, and my city had a massive winter storm the last couple days and driving has been a nightmare.

I got to visit my family for New Years, I was anxious leading up to the trip because I had not visited in years, but I had a good time. J came with, and it was really interesting seeing my dad try to keep his mask up the whole time. I've been on break from therapy for a few weeks, so my next few sessions are going to be very full.

During my break I binged all of Grey's Anatomy and Station 19, personally I enjoyed Station 19 more. Now I'm watching Elementary, a Sherlock Holmes show, I'm enjoying it, and it gave me the idea c=to change up how I do my reading, and also what I choose to read about, so while the main focus of this blog will remain political, I will also start to read about other topics as well, with a focus on history. I also want to learn a few new skills this year, mainly lockpicking, but I'd also like to learn another coding language, and/or work on strengthening my other languages.

All in all, this year promises to be an expensive one, but I hope it will be a better one than last year.
